History of Squashworld Mirrabooka

Squashworld Mirrabooka was built in 1980 and at the time was largest Squash Centre in the southern Hemisphere. We are still the largest Squash Centre in Australia with no other Centre boasting more than 12 courts.

Over the years the centre’s journey has been intertwined with that of the Mirrabooka Squash Club which was incepted on June 27, 1982.  The Club was born with Members from various Squash Clubs and has grown to be one of the largest in Perth today.

In 1995 the centre was taken over by the Whooley Sisters comprising of Helen, Fiona and Jan. The enthusiasm shown by these Sisters is what helped build this Centre and Club into what it is today. They started the Wednesday League and Friday King of the Court, and with the help of Life Members Alan Melville, Dave Cutforth, Keith Bollen, and Jan Melville continued to foster and develop the Club.

After 10 years at the helm the Whooley sisters handed over the reigns to Kane Fasolo and Adam Simmons in January 2006. Kane has over 25 years experience in the Squash Industry and has taken over the Management role of the Centre.

Squashworld Mirrabooka has continued to grow in all aspects and now boasts the largest Pro Shop in Australia, the Wednesday League has grown to over 120 participants, Friday King of the Court, due to it’s popularity now has a limit on entrants and is held over 2 sessions, and we continue to hold the largest Squash tournaments in the State with the WA Closed, State Masters, State Country Championships and the Head Junior Classic being held in the centre each year.
