Cambridge Junior Program

Live in Wembley or surrounding suburbs? Our Cambridge centre has a fantastic Junior program lead by our head coach Tim. Cambridge has been consistently one of the biggest junior programs in the metro area based on weekly attendance with anywhere between 25-40 juniors attending on a weekly basis! The format has been changed slightly this year with separate primary school and high school sessions being offered.

Coaching Format
Regular juniors are assigned to coaching groups where they work with the same coach each week. New juniors starting mid term will get asked a couple of questions regarding standard and then assigned a group to train in.
Occasionally the format change to rotating between different activities on each court, throwing in some variety for the juniors from session to session.

Game Play Format
Most common gameplay form is out round robin matches which contribute towards our ranking challenge board. Progress up the rankings by winning more games! Game play format is often timed to make sure everyone gets all their games in
Alternative formats include king of the court, team games and condition games.

Our coaches will be on hand to help out new players with scoring and reffing duties during the game play session.

Anything else?
Juniors looking to take the next step up can get involved in playing tournaments or Junior pennants outside of our regular Friday program. Various clubs around the state host tournaments each month, whilst WA Squash runs a junior pennant competition on Sunday mornings throughout the year! Cambridge fits into the central zone so our talented juniors have the chance to represent the Central Champs team at the WA State Junior Age Zone Teams Championships in the July school holidays

To play events outside of juniors, players need to be registered with WA Squash, which is an additional $30 per year. This also provides them with insurance cover for injuries whilst on the squash court.
